Xiao Bo read out the school's commendation documents for the model schools (departments) and model contestants of the 2023 Skills Competition at the meeting. Luo Xiaoqing presented awards to these model schools (departments) and outstanding instructors in the 2023 Skills Competition.
Heads from the Teaching Affairs office gave an overview of the Skills Competition for nationwide vocational colleges, mentioned the changes of the competition in the recent years and SVHC’s hosting of some competition events, and summarized the achievements of SVHC in this competition, and then put forward relevant suggestions on the existing problems. Heads from the School of Nursing, the School of Public Health and the School of Clinical Medicine shared the experience of preparing the contestants to participate in the provincial, and then the national competition.
President Luo Xiaoqing congratulated the winners on the achievements of the Skills Competition, expressed his gratitude to the staff who participated in the Skills Competition, and announced the official launch of the preparation for the 2024 Skills Competition on behalf of SVHC. Luo emphasized that the Skills Competition is an important part of the high-quality development of SVHC and a necessary condition for the quality building of SVHC. All participating schools (departments) should attach great importance to the Skills Competition, organize it conscientiously, study the rules and operating standards in depth, improve the awareness of the competition, and carry forward the hard-working spirit with clear goals. Meanwhile, he pointed out that it is necessary to build a gradient cultivation mechanism for instructors and contestants and form a sustainable development training model. He encouraged teachers to take the Skills Competition as an opportunity to improve teaching ability so as to comprehensively improve the talent training quality of SVHC.
The 2023 Skills Competition has been successfully concluded, and SVHC, represented as Jiangsu Provincial team, participated in 6 events (7 gold points), and achieved excellent results of 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze, creating the best results in the history of SVHC in the national competition, and gaining the "prizes" from all the participating events. The number of gold medals and the total number of medals in the national competition rank first among similar institutions in the province and among the best in the country.
The school will continue to accumulate the experience of skills competition, consolidate and expand the achievements of the competition, adhere to the integration of "post-course-competition- certificate", integrate the core content of the competition, the core competencies of the post, and the new technologies and new processes of the industry into the teaching content, comprehensively improve the vocational skill level of students, and help SVHC’s construction of "High Quality, Strong Major" .
