The event kicked off with the opening dance "Nursing and Nurturing".
Luo Xiaoqing delivered a speech for the event. On behalf of SHVC, he firstly expressed the most sincere blessing to the prospective nurses who will soon enter the nursing post, and expressed his heartfelt thanks and best wishes to the nursing seniors from the hospitals as well as all nursing teachers. He affirmed the excellent achievements made by the School of Nursing in recent years in the construction of the profession. He expressed his wish that the students will shoulder responsibilities in future health care positions, feel the nobility and sweetness of protecting life, realize life values and reap job satisfactions.
Afterwards, the school leaders presented awards to the winning teachers and students of Jiangsu Vocational Skills Competition 2024 (Nursing Skills). Over the years, School of Nursing has given full play to the advantages of brand specialties, adhered to“Competition to Promote Learning and Teaching”, improved the professional skills teaching level, and won many awards in national and provincial nursing skills competitions, inspiring students to strive for excellence and professionalism.
Nurse Caps Ceremony is the rite of passage for every nursing student to embark on the path of nursing, and it also marks the passing of the spirit of "burning oneself and illuminating others" to the new batch of nursing students. Accompanied by soothing and sacred music, the ceremony began, inheriting the candlelight and white professional uniforms. Under the watchful eyes of all the teachers and students, the nursing seniors went up to the stage and put on the holy swallow-tailed nurse caps for the nursing students. With nurse caps and warm heart, bearing the expectations of the predecessors, bearing the mission of saving lives and helping the sick, the students solemnly received the red candles from the hands of the predecessors. From then on, the mission of "Eliminating Diseases, Promoting Health" was engraved in students’hearts. Under the guidance of Ms. Cong Xiaoling from School of Nursing, students stood solemnly and took a solemn oath. Each line of the oath resonated with the flickering candlelight, and everyone deeply felt the nobility and glory of the nursing profession, where nurses are compared to angels in white.
A wonderful drama performance "Honest and Integrity for Nursing Students", a skillful show of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and a song "Song of Chinese Nurses" sung by all teachers and students pushed the ceremony to a climax, and also strengthened the commitment and determination of nursing students to practice the sacred mission of saving lives and helping the wounded.
Fostering the dream of nursing students and taking responsibility for the the future, the Ceremony is an important carrier for School of Nursing to cultivate people with moral values, and also an important measure to strengthen nursing students' sense of social responsibility and professional mission. For a long time, School of Nursing has integrated ideological and political education with professional education, and vigorously promoted the high-quality training of nursing professionals. The success of the ceremony makes nursing students cherish the current learning opportunities, actively inherit and carry forward the spirit of Florence Nightingale, and effectively take up the sacred mission of the young generation. In the future, School of Nursing will continue to take "moral cultivation and dual cultivation of both morality and skills" as the fundamental task, cultivate high-quality and high-skilled nursing students, promote people's health with a strong sense of professionalism and a high sense of responsibility, and contribute to the development of vocational education!
