Xiao Bo extended a warm welcome to the leaders at the ceremony and said that the teachers and students who came to the base today are all from the School of Overseas Education of Soochow University, which admits students from over 50 countries and regions around the world every year, and forms a miniature "United Nations" as well as a cultural "melting pot". Xiao said it is an honor to usher the international students to experience the magnificent realm of traditional Chinese medicine culture, and to understand the marvelous history and profundity of the Chinese civilization. Xiao stressed in the speech that for SVHC the dissemination of Chinese medicine culture has constantly been a key task for the college’s high-quality development and an important approach to perform the functions of international exchange and cultural inheritance. SVHC welcomes the joint efforts with Soochow University to build the base into a center to display and experience Chinese medicine culture, to spread the craftsmen spirit and vocational education culture in China, and to tell well the Chinese stories and to make Chinese voice heard in the international community.
Xia Jun of Soochow University thanked SVHC for the careful arrangement. Xia expected that the international students will avail themselves of the special elective course of “Chinese Medicine Culture”, and spread traditional Chinese medicine culture, and better still the Chinese culture from an international perspective. After the ceremony, Lin Qing, Deputy Director of the School of Clinical Medicine, SVHC, began the first learning session with the five elements of yin and yang, and introduced to the international students the traditional Chinese medicine techniques such as pulse diagnosis, moxibustion, cupping, and ear point bean pressing, which aroused the great interest and amazement of the students. In the following sessions, SVHC will carry out projects such as practicing the traditional Chinese medicine health, boosting exercise of "Baduan Jin", recognizing Chinese herbal medicine, drinking medicinal tea, making fragrant health sachets, which are designed to enable the international students to experience closely the charm of traditional Chinese medicine culture.
The "Wumen Medicine" International Dissemination Base is a key platform in SVHC to spread the traditional Chinese medicine culture during the "14th Five-Year Plan" Period. Guided by "International Vision, Silk Road Focus, and Features of Traditional Chinese Traditional Chinese Health Care", the base will launch projects such as Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture, tuina, and traditional Chinese medical nursing, so as to provide a training platform for foreigners interested in traditional Chinese medicine at home and abroad, to offer elective courses for international students in Suzhou, to carry out training programs of traditional Chinese medicine in the "Belt and Road" countries and regions and to facilitate the international development of the traditional Chinese medicine with the wisdom of Chinese ancient medical practitioners of Qi Bo, the Yellow Emperor and Li Shizhen.
